Derrick Martell Rose (born October 4, 1988, Chicago, Illinois) is an American basketball player who plays for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association. Rated by professional scouts as the number one point guard prospect out of high school, he decided to play his college basketball for the University of Memphis Tigers. In his only year in the NCAA, the Tigers qualified for the 2008 Final Four and went on to the NCAA Championship Game against the University of Kansas Jayhawks. After declaring for the NBA Draft following his freshman year, Rose was selected first overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by his hometown Bulls. |
